Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about how we work, what to expect, and how we can help.
We're looking for teams who are invested in solving a real problem—not just adding features for feature's sake. Good fits typically include:
- A clear understanding of the challenge (even if you're not sure about the solution)
- Willingness to invest time in discovery before jumping to implementation
- Internal stakeholders who can provide feedback and direction
- Budget that reflects the scope and timeline you need
The initial conversation is always free. We'll be direct if we think we're not the right fit, and we'll suggest alternatives when appropriate.
Discovery typically involves two to four weeks of focused work:
- Stakeholder interviews with leadership, operations, and end users
- Workflow mapping and documentation of current processes
- Identification of bottlenecks, pain points, and opportunities
- Opportunity prioritization based on impact and effort
- Product roadmap and success criteria for the engagement
You'll get a discovery summary document and a clear recommendation for next steps. This work informs the scope and timeline of the full engagement.
It depends on the scope:
- Discovery only: 2–4 weeks
- Design and prototyping: 6–10 weeks
- Full product build: 4–6 months
- Legacy modernization: 5–8 months depending on complexity
These ranges assume dedicated engagement and a typical team size. We'll provide a specific timeline after discovery and align on what "done" means before we start.
We work as an extension of your team. Typically:
- Weekly or bi-weekly sync meetings to discuss progress and blockers
- Shared documentation and design files for transparency
- Regular feedback loops—we share work-in-progress regularly for input
- A single point of contact (Client Partner) who knows your business and advocates internally
- Access to your stakeholders, end users, and subject matter experts when needed
We work closely during discovery and design, and stay collaborative throughout development. We can work fully remote or hybrid depending on your preference.
You own everything. The software, the source code, the designs, and all intellectual property transfer to you. We don't believe in vendor lock-in or ongoing licensing fees for code we built.
We'll provide documentation, hand off the codebase in an organized state, and offer transition support so your team can maintain and evolve the product after launch. If you want us to stick around for ongoing development, that's a separate conversation.
Accessibility is built in from the start, not bolted on at the end. We design for WCAG 2.1 AA standards by default:
- Color contrast that meets accessibility ratios
- Keyboard navigation for every interactive element
- Screen reader support and semantic HTML
- Clear focus states and labeling for forms
- Testing with assistive technology throughout development
We don't see accessibility as a compliance checkbox—it makes software better for everyone.
Yes. Security requirements inform architecture and design decisions from day one. We discuss:
- Data sensitivity and compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.)
- Authentication and permission models
- Data encryption in transit and at rest
- Audit logging and data retention policies
- Hosting and infrastructure choices
We bring security expertise to the table early and build with best practices throughout development.
Most likely yes. We've built integrations with:
- Enterprise ERPs (NetSuite, SAP, etc.)
- CRMs and marketing platforms
- Accounting and payroll systems
- Legacy databases and custom APIs
- Third-party SaaS tools
We'll evaluate the complexity and feasibility during discovery. Sometimes a clean data migration makes more sense than tight integration. We'll be honest about the tradeoffs.
We provide launch support and typically offer post-launch services on a project basis:
- Launch monitoring and bug fixes in the first 30 days
- Team training and adoption support
- Iteration sprints based on user feedback
- Feature development and enhancements
- Ongoing partnership options for product teams
The software is yours to maintain and evolve, but we're happy to partner on iterations or new features if that's helpful.
Yes. We work fully remote by default and have experience collaborating across time zones. We use:
- Async documentation and design artifacts
- Regular but focused synchronous meetings
- Clear communication practices and shared tools
- Recorded sessions for those who can't attend live
Remote work often actually improves communication because everything is documented. We're equally comfortable with hybrid arrangements if some in-person time is important to your team.
Honestly. We believe in transparent pricing:
- We provide estimates based on scope and team size after discovery
- We discuss budget constraints upfront and work within them
- We focus on outcomes, not hours—some projects are worth more and some are worth less
- We prefer fixed-fee engagements over time-and-materials when possible
- We're upfront if scope creep emerges and how it affects timeline or cost
We don't believe in hidden fees or surprise invoices. Budget decisions happen collaboratively.
Iteration is part of the process. Good software evolves based on real usage and feedback. We offer:
- Post-launch feedback gathering and analysis
- Prioritized roadmap of improvements and features
- Iteration sprints (1–4 week cycles) to ship improvements
- Long-term partnership models for teams wanting ongoing development
We design for extensibility from the start, so adding features or changing flows doesn't require rearchitecting the system. Your investment is protected.
